A reality show about competing fangirl couture designers has been tapped by Lionsgate and Comic-Con as the first original series for Comic-Con International, the fanboy streamer to launch next year.

Her Universe is based on Ashley Eckstein's Her Universe Fashion Show, a design competition and runway showcase at the San Diego comic book convention that had its second outing Thursday evening. The reality series will follow contestants as they design geek fashion beyond baggy pants and big glasses to be modeled in competition.

Her Universe will climax with judges picking top geek couture prize winners at next year's Her Universe Fashion Show. Eckstein, who has her own Her Universe clothing line, Ashley Tisdale (Clipped, Young and Hungry) and Jennifer Tisdale (Inner Circle) will executive produce the series, to be produced by Her Universe, Blondie Girl Productions and Lionsgate.

"The Comic-Con SVOD service is about creating and delivering content specifically for and about this amazing and passionate fan base,” said Seth Laderman, who was recently installed as executive vp and general manager of the upcoming SVOD.

Besides Her Universe, the Comic-Con online service will feature exclusive archived footage from the past 45 years of the San Diego convention, films and TV series from Lionsgate and other companies and original video.
