Marc Maron Lands Comedy Special on Epix
Marc Maron has found his next act.
The comedian has landed a one-hour comedy special with premium TV network Epix. Marc Maron: More Later, which bows December 4, marks the cynical comedian's first TV stand-up event in 20 years.
Filmed this year at The Vic Theatre in Chicago, More Later captures Maron performing stand-up in his usual compelling, raw and wildly honest way. He tackles everything from religion and relationships to Skype sex and ice cream.
“I’m really excited about this special,” said Maron. “The Vic is an amazing theater, and the crowd in Chicago was amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever been funnier, and I should know.”
Epix president and CEO Mark S. Greenberg added: "Marc’s edgy, smart approach to comedy is admired not only by his peers but by fans worldwide. This has been a banner year for Epix comedy specials, and we are honored to continue presenting our viewers with the best stand-up comedy acts performing today, uncut and uncensored."
Maron made headlines last month when he interviewed President Barack Obama on his podcast, WTF With Marc Maron, which has been downloaded 2.3 million times to date. Among the long list of talent Maron has interviewed on his show is: Louis C.K., Amy Poehler, Lena Dunham, Conan O’Brien, Janeane Garofalo and Chris Rock.
More Later was produced by Avalon Television, was written and performed by Maron and was directed by Bobcat Goldthwait. Maron, Olivia Wingate and David Martin will serve as executive producers, Dan Lubetkin as a co-executive producer and Whitney Berry as a producer. Ross Bernard is the executive producer for the network, and Valerie Bishop is the production manager.
