Mark Wahlberg, Jason Isaacs Join Animated Scooby-Doo Movie 'Scoob'
Mark Wahlberg and Jason Isaacs have joined Scoob, Warner Bros.'s upcoming Scooby-Doo movie, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Isaacs will voice star as the villain Dick Dastardly, while Wahlberg will play the superhero role of Blue Falcon. They join a voice cast that includes Frank Welker as Scooby, and Will Forte, Gina Rodriguez and Tracy Morgan for a ride in the Mystery Machine.
Scooby will be produced by Warner Bros. and its Warner Animation Group division, with Tony Cervone directing the feature that also counts Chris Columbus, Charles Roven, Richard Suckle and Allison Abbate as producers.
The project brings the mysterious and borderline supernatural hijinks of four teens and their (borderline) talking Great Dane, Scooby-Doo, to the big screen for the first time since 2004’s live-action Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.
Rodriguez will voice Velma, known as the brains of the group. Forte will voice Shaggy, the scaredy-cat slacker who is best friends with Scooby. Morgan will voice a character not part of the Scooby universe, but rather part of the larger Hanna-Barbera cartoon universe, Captain Caveman.
The story sees the Mystery Inc. gang join forces with other heroes of the Hanna-Barbera universe to save the world from Dick Dastardly and his evil plans, and this time, we are told, the threat is real. The movie is slated for a May 2020 release.
Wahlberg is also set to star as Col. Steve Austin in Six Billion Dollar Man, the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the classic 1970s sci-fi TV show. Isaacs counts Netflix's The OA and the Harry Potter franchise as well as Hotel Mumbai and Death of a Stain among his credits.
Isaacs is repped by Gersh Agency, Independent Talent Group and Silver Lining Entertainment. Wahlberg is repped by WME and Leverage Management.
