The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is about to get a little Clueless.

The Amazon comedy series from Gilmore Girls duo Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino has enlisted Wallace Shawn for a guest role, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The hourlong, set in New York in 1958, stars Rachel Brosnahan (House of Cards) as Miriam “Midge” Maisel, a woman who has everything she’s ever wanted — the perfect husband, two kids and an elegant Upper West Side apartment. But when her life takes an unexpected turn, Midge discovers a previously unknown talent. She subsequently storms the world of stand-up comedy — a path that will ultimately lead her to a spot on Johnny Carson’s couch.

Shawn will play Herb Smith, a self-proclaimed comedy writer who "shapes acts, writes jokes and eats pastrami."

Brosnahan stars alongside Alex Borstein, Tony Shalhoub, Marin Hinkle and Michael Zegen as well as recently announced guest star Jane Lynch. Behind the scenes, Dhana Gilbert also exec produces with the Palladinos.

After premiering as a pilot on Amazon in March, the project received a rare two-season order just a month later.

In addition to his many film credits, which also include The Princess Bride and his voice work in the Toy Story films, Shawn's recent TV roles include Amazon's Mozart in the Jungle, The Good Wife and the upcoming second season of the Nick Nolte political comedy Graves. He is repped by AKA Talent Agency, WME, Casarotto Ramsay & Associates and Opus Entertainment.

There is no premiere date yet for the series.
