ABC is looking to The Good Place creator Mike Schur for its next family comedy.

The network has handed out a put-pilot commitment for a script produced by Schur and author Shea Serrano. The untitled single-camera comedy is based on Serrano's life growing up in a family with five uncles who all have different perspectives on manhood.

Serrano will pen the script and serve as a co-executive producer. Schur, who showruns NBC sophomore comedy The Good Place and exec produces Fox veteran comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, will serve as an exec producer. The project hails from Universal Television, where Schur and his Fremulon banner are under an overall deal. 3 Arts Entertainment's David Miner will also exec produce.

The ABC comedy is the first television sale for Serrano, who is the New York Times best-selling author behind 2015's The Rap Year Book: The Most Important Rap Song From Every Year Since 1979, Discussed, Debated, and Deconstructed and this month's Basketball (and Other Things): A Collection of Questions Asked, Answered, Illustrated. Repped by CAA, Serrano is a staff writer on Bill Simmons' The Ringer.

This is the latest script sale this development season for Parks and Recreation grad Schur, who also has a pair of comedies at NBC. He is repped by UTA, 3 Arts and Hansen Jacobson.
