The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is retiring the Miss Golden Globe title for a more updated one — Golden Globe Ambassador — and Simone Garcia Johnson, the 16-year-old daughter of Dwayne Johnson and manager/producer Dany Garcia, is the first celebrity offspring to take on the newly named role.

The HFPA revealed Wednesday that Garcia Johnson will assume the title for the 75th annual Golden Globes awards show.

Johnson, who stars on and produces HBO's Ballers and was recently seen in Baywatch and The Fate of the Furious, took Garcia Johnson as his guest to the awards ceremony last year. Newly signed to IMG Models, Garcia Johnson is Johnson's daughter from his first marriage to Garcia, his manager and the chairwoman of Seven Bucks Productions.

In announcing Garcia Johnson's selection at a party at Catch LA in West Hollywood, hosted by the HFPA and InStyle, HFPA president Meher Tatna said, "As we look forward to the 75th anniversary of the Golden Globe Awards, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association members decided to expand this role to embody the HFPA's philanthropic efforts year round. The honoree will now be referred to as the Golden Globe Ambassador, and we could not think of a better representative than Simone to carry on this tradition, as her values closely reflect everything that HFPA stands for."

As the 2018 Golden Globe Ambassador, Garcia Johnson will help during the ceremony by ushering presenters on and off stage and handing out awards. At Wednesday night's event, Garcia Johnson also announced that, in connection with her new title, she will partner with GlobalGirl Media, which empowers young women in journalism from disadvantaged areas by providing them the tools they need to become journalists and the opportunity to use their voice.

"I've been lucky enough to grow up in a household with strong role models and feel so honored to represent the HFPA for its 75th anniversary," Garcia Johnson said. "As the newly minted Golden Globe Ambassador, I hope to serve as a role model to young people everywhere and empower them to speak out on issues they are passionate about."

Sylvester Stallone's daughters Scarlet, Sistine and Sophia Stallone shared the duties of Miss Golden Globe last year. Notable honorees from previous years include Laura Dern, Melanie Griffith and Dakota Johnson.

The awards show, produced by Dick Clark Productions in association with the HFPA, will be broadcast live on NBC on Sunday, Jan. 7, from the Beverly Hilton Hotel. A host has yet to be announced.
