Molly Shannon has joined the cast of Mike White's HBO limited series The White Lotus.

The Saturday Night Live alum is one of five actors who will recur in the six-episode series, described as a social satire about the guests and staff at an exclusive tropical resort. Also signing on are Jon Gries (Lost, Napoleon Dynamite), Jolene Purdy (Orange Is the New Black), Kekoa Kekumano (Aquaman, Hawaii Five-0) and Lukas Gage (Euphoria).

The quintet joins a cast that also includes Murray Bartlett, Connie Britton, Jennifer Coolidge, Alexandra Daddario, Fred Hechinger, Jake Lacy, Brittany O'Grady, Natasha Rothwell, Sydney Sweeney and Steve Zahn.

Shannon and White have worked together in the past: She recurred on White's HBO series Enlightened and was a regular on his short-lived Fox comedy Cracking Up in the early 2000s. More recently she's appeared on Comedy Central's The Other Two (which is moving to HBO Max for its second season) and NBC's Will & Grace. She is repped by UTA, Framework and Hansen Jacobson.

Gries is repped by Domain and Lovett Management; Purdy by A3 Artists Agency and BMK-ENT; Kekumano is by Bliss Models & Talent in Kaneohe, Hawaii; and Gage by Anonymous Content, A3 and attorney Rick Genow.

White is writing and directing The White Lotus, which will film in Hawaii. He executive produces with David Bernad and Nick Hall. Mark Kamine is co-exec producer.
