'Mr Inbetween' Renewed for Season 2 at FX
FX has picked up a second season of the Australian drama Mr Inbetween, just ahead of the show's first-season finale.
The half-hour drama, created by and starring Scott Ryan, has also been renewed by Foxtel, the Aussie cable network that airs the series. Season two is due in 2019.
"It's been fantastic to see Mr Inbetween embraced by fans and critics. The exciting, offbeat and fast-moving first season is defined by the magnetic performance and creative vision of Scott Ryan and director Nash Edgerton," said Eric Schrier, president original programming at FX Networks and FX Productions. "Our thanks to Nash and Scott, our partners at Foxtel, fellow executive producer Jason Burrows, producer Michele Bennett, and the great cast and crew. We can't wait to return to Ray’s world in season two of Mr Inbetween."
In Mr Inbetween, Ryan plays Ray Shoesmith, who juggles his roles as a father, ex-husband, boyfriend and friend with his line of work: criminal for hire. The series also stars Damon Herriman (Justified), Justin Rosniak, Brooke Satchwell, Jackson Tozer, Nicholas Cassim, Chika Yasumura and Matt Nable.
Airing late night after Mayans MC, the show has performed reasonably well. The first two episodes averaged 1.25 million viewers in Nielsen's live plus seven-day ratings, and it's drawing 2.25 million viewers per episode across all platforms.
The season's final two episodes air Tuesday, starting at 11:14 p.m. ET.
