HBO continues to bulk up its slate of originals.

Some four months after announcing a pilot order for a comedic take on Tom Perrotta's book Mrs. Fletcher, the premium cable network has handed out a series order for the Kathryn Hahn vehicle.

Mrs. Fletcher is described as a dual coming-of-age story that explores the impact of internet porn and social media on the lives of an empty-nest mother (Hahn) and her college freshman son (Jackson White).

Perrotta penned the script and will executive produce the series alongside Sarah Condon (Looking, Bored to Death), Jessi Klein (Inside Amy Schumer, Big Mouth, Transparent) and Nicole Holofcener (Togetherness, Enlightened, Bored to Death), with the latter having directed the pilot.

An episode count for the series has not yet been determined. Casey Wilson, Owen Teague and Jen Richards round out the cast.

The order for Mrs. Fletcher arrives a year after HBO wrapped the three-season run of The Leftovers, based on the Perrotta book of the same name. The author was credited as a co-creator on the drama alongside Damon Lindelof, who adapted the best-seller. Mrs. Fletcher, published last year, becomes the latest Perrotta title to be adapted for the screen after 1998's Election and 2004's Little Children, among others.

Hahn earned an Emmy nomination for her role on Amazon's Transparent. Her recent TV credits include Amazon's I Love Dick, Showtime's Happyish and a memorable arc on NBC's Parks and Recreation. On the feature side, she next will be seen in Netflix's Private Life.

The Mrs. Fletcher order arrives as HBO continues to aggressively build up its roster of scripted originals after the merger between corporate parent Warner Bros. and AT&T. HBO has been asked to increase its slate of originals in a bid to better compete with streaming rivals including Netflix and Amazon, with Apple also recently gobbling up top-tier scripted programming. To that end, HBO recently went straight to series on The Time Traveler's Wife and picked up pilots Watchmen and Euphoria to series.

HBO's scripted roster also includes Game of Thrones' final season, Barry, Ballers, Big Little Lies, Crashing, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Deuce, High Maintenance, Insecure, Room 104, Silicon Valley, Veep, True Detective, The New Pope, Westworld, Succession, Lovecraft Country, Demimonde, Camping, The Undoing, The Nevers and more.
