MTV's 'Finding Carter' Adds 12 Episodes to Season 2 Order
MTV is expanding Finding Carter's sophomore season.
The Viacom-owned cable network has picked up the drama for 12 additional episodes, bringing its second-season order to 24 total episodes. The second batch of episodes will debut later this year.
Starring Kathryn Prescott, the drama about a teenager who learns that her mother abducted her as a child was renewed for a 12-episodes second season in August. Bones' Emily Silver created the series, which is exec produced by Emily Whitesell. Terri Minsky developed the series, which is also exec produced by Alexander Motlagh.
The news comes as Carter, a standout performer on DVR, heads into its June season 2A finale.
The additional episode count is a common play for MTV. The cabler followed the same model with comedy Faking It, which doubled its second-year order from 10 to 20 episodes — the same as Awkward did during its early run. The cable-style runs of split seasons has become so common that broadcast networks including ABC are starting to follow a similar trajectory, scheduling short-order midseason fare for the winter hiatus of its top scripted fare.
Finding Carter is one of four dramas on MTV. In addition to veteran Teen Wolf, MTV will bow Shannara and Scream in the coming months.
