NBC Developing Lesbian Buddy Comedy

The semi-autobiographical project from the pair of feature scribes will follow gay and straight best friends as they navigate life and love in Los Angeles.

NBC is looking for a few good lesbians.

The network is developing My Best Friend is a Lesbo, a comedy from feature writers Randi Barnes and Sascha Rothchild.

The project, from Warner Bros. TV and Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire, revolves around two female best friends, one gay and one straight, who help one another navigate life, love and dating in Los Angeles.

Longtime friends Barnes and Rothchild will co-write the script for the semi-autobiographical project together.

Barnes and Rothchild will co-executive produce the project, with Schwartz, Savage and Len Goldstein executive producing.

Barnes co-wrote the upcoming Wizard of Oz-inspired animated feature Dorothy of Oz, starring Glee’s Lea Michele. Rothchild has Who Invited Her set up at DreamWorks and is writing How to be Divorced by 30 for Universal.  

Barnes is repped by Apostle; Rothchild is with WME and Apostle.
