Netflix Orders Unscripted Series Centered on Vine Star Cameron Dallas

Cameron Dallas is making the jump from Vine to Netflix.

The Vine star is set to headline his own unscripted series for the streaming service, it was announced Wednesday.

The as-yet-untitled project will follow the social media personality and entrepreneur and his close circle of friends and family as he looks to take his career to the next level. The series examines the stark contrast between Dallas' online persona and who he is behind the selfies.

Jane Lipsitz and Dan Cutforth of Magical Elves (Top Chef) will executive produce with Brillstein Entertainment partners Ben Curtis, Sanford Wernick and Jon Liebman. Dallas and Bart Bordelon also will serve as executive producers.

There is no episode count or premiere date for the project.

Dallas, 21, rose to fame in 2013 by posting videos of himself playing pranks on his family and friends. He has already parlayed his huge followings on Vine, Twitter and Instagram into a career in show business, having starred in the 2014 movie Expelled from AwesomenessTV as well as the Fullscreen film The Outfield. Last year, Dallas appeared on two episodes of the NBC drama American Odyssey. He was among THR's top 25 digital stars of 2015.

This is the second such partnership with a digital star for Netflix. The streaming giant already has a scripted series in the works, Haters Back Off, based on a YouTube character created by Miranda Sings star Colleen Ballinger-Evans.

The announcement of Dallas' unscripted series comes a day before VidCon, the annual online video conference, kicks off Thursday in Anaheim.

Dallas is repped by WME, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and attorney Adam Kaller.
