Netflix has found the lead actresses for its YA vampire series First Kill.

Imani Lewis and Sarah Catherine Hook will star in the show, which is based on a short story of the same name by Victoria "V.E." Schwab. The author is adapting her story with Felicia D. Henderson (Empire, The Punisher), who will serve as showrunner.

First Kill follows teenage vampire Juliette Fairmont (Hook), who has to claim her first victim in order to take her place in a powerful vampire family. She sets her eyes on Calliope Burns (Lewis), a new girl in town. Calliope, it turns out, is a vampire hunter from a celebrated family of slayers. They each find out that the other won't be easy to kill — but far too easy to fall for.

Netflix picked up the series in October 2020, and production is slated to get underway later this year in Savannah, Georgia.

Emma Roberts and Karah Preiss executive produce via their Belletrist Productions along with Henderson and Schwab.

Lewis' credits include features The Forty-Year-Old Version and Eighth Grade and recurring parts on Starz's Hightown and Fox's Star. She's repped by Innovative Artists and Young and Wavy Entertainment. Hook has had roles on Law & Order: SVU, AMC's NOS4A2 and Hulu's Monsterland and stars in the upcoming The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. She's repped by Gersh and Luber/Roklin.
