New Girl Season 3 Finale Group - H 2014

New Girl is headed to cable.

TBS and MTV have snagged basic cable rights to the 20th Century Fox Television comedy starring Zooey Deschanel with a five-year syndication deal.

New Girl will begin airing on both cable networks starting in fall 2015 and will air weekdays on the Turner-owned TBS and the Viacom-owned MTV.

Created by Liz Meriwether, New Girl returns for a fourth season Sept. 16 at 9 p.m. on Fox. The season will feature guest turns by Jessica Biel and Veep's Reid Scott.

When the series debuted in 2011, New Girl was a clear breakout hit, attracting 10.2 million viewers to its first episode. Though ratings have since softened as the series has progressed, it is still a valuable property as it remains Fox's top-rated comedy — averaging a 2.5 among adults 18-49 during the 2013-14 season — heading into its fourth year.

New Girl stars the Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated Deschanel as Jess, a smart and spirited woman navigating her way through the highs and lows of modern friendship and romance with her male roommates (Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris and Damon Wayans Jr.) and best friend (Hannah Simone).
