The latest actor to join New Girl's roster of guest stars is Adam Brody.

The O.C. star is set to join the Fox comedy for a 2014 episode, which is scheduled to start filming the first week of December. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that he'll follow in the footsteps of Dylan O'Brien (The Internship), playing a former flame of Jess' (Zooey Deschanel).

The aptly titled "Exes," the 14th episode of the Fox comedy's third season, finds Brody taking on the part of Berkeley -- an ex-boyfriend who returns from the distant past. A cool stay-at-home dad, Berkeley prides himself on being the ideal ex.

Despite this being Brody's first appearance on New Girl, Berkeley and Jess have supposedly remained close friends in the years since their breakup.

Brody, whose recent TV credits include Burning Love, The League and House of Lies, is repped by UTA.
