Benedict Cumberbatch is a busy guy, so he's spending his honeymoon with an unlikely companion.

The Imitation Game star, who is up for best actor at this weekend's Oscars, surprised talk show host Jimmy Kimmel by not canceling his scheduled appearance on Monday's episode, despite having tied the knot with Sophie Hunter in England on Saturday.

"I felt bad about you not coming [to the wedding], so I thought I'd bring you in on the honeymoon," Cumberbatch joked to Kimmel.

When Kimmel wanted to know whether the couple's soon-to-arrive baby would take his last name, the Sherlock star self-deprecatingly quipped: "Poor child, I think it will have to."

Cumberbatch also referred to the moment that he first spoke to his parents about his Oscar nomination as "a wonderful moment."
