The fifth season of Wild 'N Out was MTV2's highest-rated series, with an average 1.1 million viewers and a 1.3 rating among the MTV Networks demo of 12-34. It was revived by MTV's sister network in November 2012 after a five-year break.

Wild 'N Out is hosted by Cannon, who can be seen this summer on NBC's America's Got Talent; in February, he also signed on to co-star in VH1's Drumline sequel. Cannon and Michael Goldman are executive producers for NCredible Entertainment, with Nile Evans as showrunner and executive producer. Paul Ricci and Candida Boyette-Clemons are executive producers for MTV2.
