Brian Wright is adding a key member to his overall deals team at Netflix.

Former ABC drama head and creative lead at CAA-backed wiip Nne Ebong has joined the streamer as vp overall deals, original series. While will report directly to Wright, Ebong marks the first new hire to come under head of global TV Bela Bajaria. Sources say Ebong was fielding multiple offers, including one that would have re-teamed her with Channing Dungey when the former Netflix and ABC exec begins her tenure at Warner Bros. TV next year.

Netflix's overall deals unit was created Oct. 27 as part of a restructuring under Bajaria at Netflix. The move was designed to help eliminate silos while also prioritizing the streamer's key producers with rich overall deals. While Wright has worked closely with Ryan Murphy, the Duffer brothers (Stranger Things) and more, Ebong has deep ties with Shonda Rhimes from her time at ABC Studios, where she served as head of drama. Ebong collaborated with Rhimes on shows including Scandal and How to Get away With Murder. Her credits include American Crime, Once Upon a Time, Revenge and Lost.

Ebong will help fill the void created when Dungey departed Netflix for Warners. Dungey previously oversaw a number of overall deals as vp originals including the Game of Thrones creators and Rhimes, with whom she had her own long-standing relationship during her former tenure as ABC Studios president.

Ebong comes to Netflix from wiip, the affiliated studio at CAA where she served as creative lead since she arrived there in late 2018. While there, she developed and produced series including HBO's upcoming The White House Plumbers, starring Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux.

Deadline was first to report the news.
