Noah Wyle is returning to broadcast television.

The ER grad has been tapped to star in CBS drama pilot Perfect Citizen, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The project revolves around Deck, the former general counsel for the NSA who, after his involvement as a whistleblower in an international scandal, embarks on a new career at a storied law firm in Boston. There, he faces the reality that while half the country thinks he's our greatest patriot, the other half thinks he's a traitor.

Wyle will star as Deck, marking his return to broadcast following his breakout role as Dr. John Carter on NBC's long-running medical drama ER. The actor was one of ER's original series stars and appeared in more episodes of the drama than any other castmember. After exiting as a series regular in season 11, Wyle recurred in season 12 before returning with a recurring role in its 15th and final season. Since then, he has focused on cable, having starred in and executive produced TNT alien drama Falling Skies. Wyle currently directs, exec produces and recurs on TNT's The Librarians, which will return for its fourth season on the Turner-owned cable network later this year.

Perfect Citizen was written by Craig Turk (The Good Wife). Turk also exec produces alongside Paris Barclay, with the latter set to direct the pilot. Lenny Platt co-stars as Felix, the brilliant "alpha associate" at the firm.

Wyle, who next stars in feature Felt opposite Liam Neeson and Diane Lane, is repped by CAA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Jackoway Tyerman.
