Patti LuPone is heading to Showtime. The Broadway actress and TV fixture, who most recently had recurring gigs on American Horror Story and Girls, will appear in the upcoming season of Penny Dreadful.

Thus far only booked as a guest star, her addition marks one of several to the sophomore horror-drama. Actors Douglas Hodge, Sarah Greene and Jonny Beauchamp have also been added to guest roles to the cast — and freshman recurring players Helen McCrory and Simon Russell Beale have both been upped to regulars.

LuPone will play a mysterious character from Vanessa's (Eva Green) past. The Tony and Emmy winner is clearly invested in TV at the moment. She recently starred in Bruce Eric Kaplan's HBO comedy pilot alongside Sarah Silverman and Topher Grace, on which the network ultimately passed.

Penny Dreadful earned a bigger order for its sophomore season, getting 10 episodes after averaging 4.8 million weekly viewers across platforms. McCrory and Beale will reprise their respective roles of Evelyn Poole and Ferdinand Lyle. Production begins in Dublin, Ireland, this month with a 2015 return planned on the network.

Lupone is repped by Paradigm.
