'Pretty Little Liars' Star on Mike and Alison's Shocking Storyline, "Crazy" Finale
It's been tough for Pretty Little Liars fans to know quite what to make of Mike (Cody Christian) secretly visiting Alison (Sasha Pieterse) in jail. Thankfully, answers are on the way.
Christian spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about Mike's dark storyline this season, and he acknowledged that "fans are going crazy right now" after learning of Aria's (Lucy Hale) little bro's clandestine chats with Ali. After all, Ali has been considered the prime suspect in his ex-girlfriend Mona's (Janel Parrish) death.
"Right now, he doesn't really know where to turn and where to look, so I think Ali is the one person that, in his mind, he thinks, 'This is the right choice, this is the right decision and this is the right person to go to to get what I want,' " Christian said. "There's so much to be discussed and considered. ... Is he going there to seek revenge? Is he going there because he's helping her? Is he going there out of resentment?"
Christian said the storyline will continue to develop in Tuesday's episode, when "a lot more questions are going to be arisen," and then the following week, "we're going to start getting some answers."
He pointed out that Mike has been forced to "grow up" in light of Mona's death, which is going to lead him to make some big choices. "His actions are going to be so out of character," he said. "Everything that he does in the next couple episodes are just going to leave people blown away."
As for things with Mike and his big sis, the two will continue to go through a "rough spot," but viewers will learn "very soon" who was the intended recipient of the bag of candy that Aria saw him leave for someone. And what about PLL newbie Leslie (Elizabeth McLaughlin), who has emerged from Mona's past? "Everybody should have the red flag up on Leslie," the actor said, though that's probably true of anyone who sets foot in Rosewood.
With the series rapidly approaching the end of season five, Christian said that "everything at this point is coming to a head" for the show's characters. He added about the forthcoming season finale: "It's one crazy episode, I'll tell you that. We get some answers that we probably don't want to have."
