'Real Housewives of NY's' Sonja Morgan May Have to Sell Her Home As Divorce Battle Rages
Real Housewives of New York’s Sonja Morgan just can’t catch a break. The Bravo show just dug up its star’s bankruptcy from last year and now Morgan’s saying that her ex-husband’s refusal to pay her their divorce settlement may result in her losing her home.
"I'm sure the world thinks, 'Sonja doesn't have to worry, she's got that husband there for her.' But I'm on my own," Morgan, 47, tells the New York Post.
According to court papers, Morgan claims her ex-husband, millionaire John Adams Morgan, 80, – who's related to the founder of the financial services firm, J.P. Morgan, and former U.S. President John Adams – has refused to pay her a $3 million lump sum and $300,000 in back alimony as per a judgment from their Connecticut divorce proceedings.
Adams Morgan’s attorney says his client is appealing the judgment, because he believes that the judge has asked him to pay more than previously agreed in pre and postnuptial agreements with his former wife. The couple divorced in 2008.
Morgan says that the financial strain he’s placed on her may force her to sell her $6 million Upper East Side Townhouse in New York City.
According to the housewife, she filed bankruptcy last November to protect her assets against a $7 million judgment against her for a film project that was never completed.
