'The Romanoffs': Watch the First Footage of Matthew Weiner's Amazon Anthology

More than three years after wrapping AMC's Mad Men, Matthew Weiner's follow-up drama, Amazon's The Romanoffs, is coming into focus.

The streamer has released the first trailer with actual footage from the Mad Men creator's Amazon anthology The Romanoffs.

The $50 million series — which shot on three continents — is written, directed and exec produced by the nine-time Emmy winner and features eight separate stories about people who believe themselves to be descendants of the Russian royal family. Each story takes place in a new location with a new cast. The first installment stars Marthe Keller, Aaron Eckhart, Ines Melab and Louise Bourgoin. The second features Corey Stoll, Kerry Bishe, Janet Montgomery and Noah Wyle.

The cast also includes Isabelle Huppert, Diane Lane, Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, Amanda Peet, Jack Huston, Andrew Rannells, Paul Reiser, Kathryn Hahn and more.

The drama will bow Oct. 12 with its first two episodes, with subsequent installments rolled out weekly on Fridays. Dubbed foreign language versions will be released in early 2019.

"The Romanoffs is an ambitious event series that will be the first-ever anthology released weekly on Prime Video,” Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke said. “Filmed around the globe and featuring an incredible, star-studded cast, each episode will be a surprise gift to the audience. We are grateful to Matthew Weiner for bringing this groundbreaking series to life for our Prime audience.”

Semi Chellas (Mad Men) also wrote and exec produced the drama. Kriss Turner Towner co-exec produced alongside Blake McCormick and Kathy Ciric; Andre and Maria Jacquemetton wrote and served as consulting producers.
