'SNL': Natalie Portman Joined by Kenan Thompson for Extra-Dramatic Slo-Mo Promo

Natalie Portman is getting in touch with her funny side. In the promo for this week’s Saturday Night Live, her otherwise dramatic video gets co-opted by castmember Kenan Thompson.

“I’ve saved worlds. I’ve decimated evil. I’ve fallen in love. I’ve died. I’ve conquered,” Portman says in voiceover as she stares into the camera intensely. "But those were only characters. This Saturday, I’ll show the world what I, Natalie Portman, can do.”

Confetti falls from the sky, flickering against the purple lights. Through the camera, it’s spectacular. In the studio, it’s more of a nuisance for regular castmembers Pete Davidson and Kenan Thompson.

“They’re shooting this stupid promo,” Davidson informs a confused Thompson.

The comedian is ready to be annoyed by Portman’s display, but then she invites him into the explosion of confetti.

This will be Portman’s second time hosting SNL. The first time, in 2006, she did a fan-favorite rap with Seth Meyers, Andy Samberg, and Chris Parnell. Saturday’s musical guest will be “New Rules” singer Dua Lipa, marking her first appearance on the show.
