'Sopranos' Cast to Reunite for Virtual Fundraiser
The Sopranos is joining the list of Hollywood fundraiser reunions.
In keeping with the 2020 trend, creator David Chase and cast members from the classic HBO mob drama will be virtually reuniting for the first time since the show's 20th anniversary in early 2019 to benefit Friends of Firefighters, a not-for-profit organization founded in the aftermath of 9/11 to support FDNY firefighters and their families.
The reuniting cast includes Edie Falco, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Robert Iler, Michael Imperioli, Drea de Matteo, Steven Van Zandt, Maureen Van Zandt, Steve Buscemi, Lorraine Bracco, Vincent Pastore, Tim Van Patten and Steve Schirripa.
The Sopranos reunion comes ahead of the big-screen adaptation of the acclaimed series, The Many Saints of Newark, a prequel co-written by Chase.
"This has been a very difficult time for everyone, but especially for our first responders," says Buscemi — who played Tony Blundetto, cousin to the late James Gandolfini's starring character, Tony Soprano — in a statement on Monday. "Friends of Firefighters is a crucial support service for our firefighters and I’m looking forward to reuniting with my friends to help raise some awareness and funds for this wonderful organization."
The two-hour live event will take place on Dec. 18 and will see the cast reading a new Sopranos sketch, written by Chase and show writer Terence Winter for the event, and participating in a Q&A.
The fundraiser, powered by Tiltify, will be live-streamed on Twitch. RSVP here.
