This Week in TV: 'Springsteen on Broadway,' 'RuPaul's Drag Race,' Fall Finales Galore
Holiday specials and final episodes of 2018 abound on broadcast and cable for the week of Dec. 10. A rock 'n' roll legend, a Chilling one-off and the final Saturday Night Live of the year also populate the week.
Below is The Hollywood Reporter's rundown of some of the coming week's highlights. It would be next to impossible to watch everything, but THR can point the way to some worthy options. All times are ET/PT unless noted.
Fall finales: The majority of the broadcast shows that haven't already aired their last episodes of 2018 do so this week. They include CBS' Magnum P.I. (9 p.m.) and Bull (10 p.m.) on Monday; the entirety of ABC's and CBS' Tuesday lineups; ABC's and The CW's Wednesday slates, plus CBS' SEAL Team (9 p.m.) and Criminal Minds (10 p.m.); NBC's Superstore (8 p.m. Thursday); The CW's Supernatural and Legacies (8 and 9 p.m. Thursday); ABC's Fresh Off the Boat (8 p.m.), Speechless (8:30 p.m.) and Child Support (9 p.m.; it's a season finale) on Friday; Fox's Friday lineup; NBC's Saturday Night Live, with host Matt Damon (11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 PT); and CBS' God Friended Me (8:30 p.m.) and NCIS: Los Angeles (9:30 p.m.) on Sunday, Dec. 16.
Specials: CMA Country Christmas (8 p.m. Monday, ABC), Pentatonix: A Not So Silent Night (10 p.m. Monday, NBC), Darci Lynne: My Hometown Christmas (9 p.m. Tuesday, NBC), Miss Universe (7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, Fox).
New: Those unable to score a ticket to Springsteen on Broadway before its run ends have a backup plan: Netflix debuts a filmed version of the show Sunday.
Also new: Sam Richardson and Adam Pally in YouTube Premium's comedy Champaign ILL (Wednesday); the streaming debut of Oscar hopeful Roma (Friday, Netflix); holiday episode Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter's Tale (Friday, Netflix); true-crime series The Innocent Man, based on John Grisham's book (Friday, Netflix).
Returning: New seasons of Fuller House and Cuckoo hit Netflix Friday.
New: ESPN's first 30 for 30 documentary in 10 months, 42 to 1 (9 p.m. ET/6 PT Tuesday), will tell the story of James "Buster" Douglas' monumental upset of Mike Tyson in 1990. The title refers to the long odds of Douglas winning the fight.
Returning: A new season of RuPaul's Drag Race All-Stars gets to work at 8 p.m. Friday on VH1.
Holiday cheer: Freeform's No Sleep 'Til Christmas (9 p.m. Monday); a Hallmark double shot of Entertaining Christmas (9 p.m. Saturday) and A Gingerbread Romance (9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16); Lifetime's Christmas Pen Pals (8 p.m. Saturday).
In case you missed it…
The latest installment of horror anthology Into the Dark centers on an actor (Nyasha Hatendi) hired to embody the life-size version of a hot Christmas toy. It…does not go well. The episode, "Pooka!," is now streaming on Hulu.
