HBO Max's pilot Red Bird Lane has lined up its cast, with an Oscar winner as its lead.

Susan Sarandon will star in the psychological thriller executive produced by John Wells. Kiersey Clemons (Antebellum), Danny Huston (Succession) and Isidora Goreshter (Shameless) will also star, along with Ash Santos (American Horror Story: Apocalypse), Fiona Dourif (The Blacklist), Dizzie Harris and Tara Lynne Barr (Casual).

Written by Sara Gran, Red Bird Lane follows eight strangers who arrive at an isolated house — all for different reasons — and quickly realize that something sinister and terrifying awaits them.

Sarandon will play Catherine, the hostess. She's brilliant, beautiful, magnetic — and a murderer. The Oscar winner currently stars in the feature Blackbird; recent TV work includes a recurring part on Showtime's Ray Donovan and FX's Feud: Bette and Joan, for which she earned Emmy nominations as both a star and producer.

Clemons will play Jane, who mixes high intelligence and no common sense. She comes to the house looking for drugs. Goreshter plays Isabelle, who's sophisticated and hard-edged, though not unkind. She comes to the house looking for pleasure. Huston plays Hugh, who is old money and exhausted and arrives looking for resolution.

Santos will play the soft-spoken, elegant and hard as nails Kesha, who arrives to save a life. Dourif will play Mikki, Catherine's right hand. Smart and cruel, she came to the house for fun. Harris plays Sam, who means well but is in over her head. She comes to the house for hope. Barr will play Rose, who's young and naive and comes to the house out of desperation.

Red Bird Lane is one of a host of projects Wells is developing under a multi-year, nine-figure overall deal he signed in 2019 at his long-time studio home, Warner Bros. TV. He exec produces with Gran, director David Slade and John Wells Productions' Erin Jontow.
