Syfy's Happy! pilot has found its female lead.

Lili Mirojnick has signed on to star opposite Chris Meloni in the adaptation of the graphic novel, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Happy! follows Nick Sax (Meloni) — an intoxicated, corrupt ex-cop turned hit man — who is adrift in a world of casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal. After a hit gone wrong, his inebriated life is forever changed by a tiny, relentlessly positive, imaginary blue-winged horse.

Mirojnick will play Det. Meredith McCarthy, a tough homicide detective in a man's world. She’s a good cop who's had to swallow her pride and give up her ideals to save her job and protect her elderly mother. Will the secrets of her past bring damnation — or redemption?

Grant Morrison (Batman, The Invisibles), who co-created The New York Times best-selling graphic novel with artist Darick Robertson, wrote the pilot with Brian Taylor (Crank, Gamer). Taylor will also direct. Morrison and Taylor will exec produce with Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty and Toby Jaffe of Original Film (The Fast and the Furious). Universal Cable Productions will produce.

Mirojnick counts TNT's Public Morals, Grey's Anatomy and Elementary among her TV credits, and her film roles include Cloverfield and Friends With Benefits. She is repped by ICM Partners.
