Teri Hatcher Joins 'Supergirl' for Major Season 2 Arc
Teri Hatcher is returning to the DC universe.
The actress, who played Lois Lane on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman for four years, has joined Supergirl for a multi-episode arc, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Hatcher will step into a mysterious role that will become the new major villain of the season on the sophomore CW drama.
"No offense to any of the wonderful actresses who have also played the part, but Teri Hatcher is my all-time favorite Lois Lane," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said. "To have her come back to the SuperWorld in a completely different part is an unbelievable gift to me, [executive producer] Greg [Berlanti], and the fans.”
Hatcher is the second Lois & Clark grad to appear on Supergirl. Dean Cain, who played Clark Kent/Superman on the ABC series, has recurred as Kara (Melissa Benoist)'s foster father since the pilot. This also isn't Hatcher's first return trip to the greater SuperWorld. She played Ella Lane, the mother of Lois Lane (then played by Erica Durance), on Smallville in 2010.
Both Superman-centered series, like Supergirl, hailed from Warner Bros. TV, with Smallville also airing on The CW for five of its ten seasons.
Best known for her Golden Globe-winning performance in Desperate Housewives, Hatcher has most recently recurred on CBS' The Odd Couple. Her film credits include Tomorrow Never Dies and Soapdish. She is repped by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Jackoway Tyerman.
Other season two Supergirl guest stars include Wonder Woman star Lynda Carter and Hatcher's former Desperate Housewives co-star Brenda Strong.
Supergirl airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
