The top of the seven-day ratings charts for Oct. 19-25 are dominated by news and sports programming. As more series roll out on the broadcast networks, however, those shows are starting to populate the list of the largest gains of the week.

The season premiere of The Conners on ABC had the largest delayed viewing boosts in both total viewers (2.08 million) and adults 18-49 (0.46 ratings points), bringing its seven-day totals to 7 million viewers and a 1.36 rating among adults 18-49. Ten of the 15 shows with the biggest 18-49 bumps for week five of the TV season air on broadcast, up from seven the previous week. In total-viewer gains, 13 of the top 15 are network series, as opposed to 10 for the week of Oct. 12.

In terms of total seven-day numbers, however, 14 of the top 15 shows of the week among adults 18-49 (excluding sports pre- and postgame shows) were live events — NFL and World Series games as well as individual network coverage of the final presidential debate. The only outlier is CBS' 60 Minutes, which featured interviews with the presidential candidates and their running mates. Among total viewers, the first two episodes of The Voice's season on NBC are the only ones ranking in the top 15.
