Thomas Gibson is going to be on the Criminal Minds bench for a bit.

The actor, who has been with the veteran CBS procedural since its start, has been suspended for two episodes, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

"There were creative differences on the set and a disagreement," Gibson said in a statement to THR. "I regret that it occurred. We all want to work together as a team to make the best show possible. We always have and we always will."

The actor will miss two episodes of the ABC Studios/CBS Television Studios co-production. His character will be written out of both episodes. Gibson has been replaced as director and, as of press time, will not step behind the camera this season. The matter is under investigation by human resources, and Gibson's future with the drama is unclear, though the actor is under contract for the remainder of the season.

The incident occurred while Gibson was directing an episode of the drama's upcoming 12th season and had a dispute with the hour's writer, who also happened to be on set. Insiders say they got into an argument and tempers on both sides flared, with Gibson said to have instinctively reacted to aggression and kicked the writer.

This is the second incident for Gibson with the series; he pushed another producer a few years ago and had to attend anger management classes, though he was not suspended.

Representatives from CBS and ABC Studios did not immediately return THR's request for comment.
