Tiffany Haddish to Host 'Kids Say the Darndest Things' Reboot at ABC

Tiffany Haddish is headed to ABC.

The red-hot comedian and actress will host and executive produce a new version of the unscripted show Kids Say the Darndest Things for the network. The series, based on a format that dates back to the early days of TV, will air at 8 p.m. Sundays in the fall.

“When I was dreaming of stars I wanted to bring to ABC, Tiffany Haddish was top of my list,” said ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke. "Tiffany starring in and producing this iconic series is everything I hoped for."

Added Haddish, "I'm excited to hear what kids have to say these days because I can't understand what they are saying on social media. "They're using too many abbreviations!"

The show will air in between established unscripted series America's Funniest Home Videos and Shark Tank on Sunday nights, giving the network a family-friendly block of programming opposite NFL-fueled lineups on CBS, Fox and NBC.

Haddish will interact with kids in a mix of studio segments with a live audience and taped pieces, including one in which she'll don prosthetics to make herself look like an elderly woman and have kids give her technology advice.

Kids Say the Darndest Things dates back to 1945 when it was a regular part of a radio show hosted by Art Linkletter. He then took the bit to television in the 1950s as part of his daytime variety show Art Linkletter's House Party. CBS also aired a version of the show in the 1990s, hosted by Bill Cosby.

The ABC series is produced by CBS TV Studios in association with Anvil 1893 Entertainment and Haddish's She Ready Productions. Eric Schotz executive produces with Haddish.

In addition to Kids Say the Darndest Things, Haddish stars in Netflix's animated series Tuca & Bertie and TBS' The Last O.G. She's also executive producing a set of stand-up comedy specials for Netflix and has several movie projects in the works, including an action comedy with Chris Hemsworth.
