Tiffany Haddish Sets Next Stand-Up Special at Netflix

Tiffany Haddish has lined up her next stand-up special, one that’s landed at Netflix amid industry-wide interest in the increasingly ubiquitous actress and comedian.

The yet-to-be-titled hourlong special will tape in early 2019 and air globally on the streaming service some time after. It will be Haddish's second gig at Netflix, as she will be voicing one of the leads on its upcoming animated comedy Tuca & Bertie.

“Tiffany Haddish is a force,” Netflix vp original documentary and comedy Lisa Nishimura said Tuesday in a statement. “Hilariously funny, brash and self-effacing, she’s an incredible artist who is winning over audiences while breaking barriers, and we are tremendously proud that she will showcase her formidable talent on Netflix.”

It is yet another coup for Netflix, which has become the go-to home for comedy specials — and by far the biggest spender. There is no readily available number on what Netflix paid to bring Haddish to the service, but the streamer has spent tens of millions on the likes of Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle and Jerry Seinfeld. (Monique has publicly criticized the streamer's stand-up spend, accusing Netflix of a lack of parity in its deals with men and women.)

Since Haddish’s breakout role in the 2017 feature Girl’s Trip, the 38-year-old has booked a slew of film roles, with Night School, The Oath and Nobody’s Fool on deck for the remainder of 2018. All of that is in addition to her series work on TBS’ The Last O.G. and a recent book, The Last Black Unicorn.

Haddish previously taped the stand-up special She Ready for Showtime. She is repped by APA, Artists First and lawyer Gordon Bobb from Del Shaw.
