The BBC’s Doctor Who is just months away from returning to television screens with Peter Capaldi taking over the lead role as the time-traveling Doctor (Jenna Coleman remains as Clara Oswald, faithful if snarky companion), and to accompany his return, Titan Comics announced details Tuesday of its Doctor Who: The Twelfth Doctor series.

The publisher’s third ongoing Who series — July will see the launch of both Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor and Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor — the series will be written by 2000AD veteran Robbie Morrison, with art by Dave Taylor, who has worked for Marvel, DC and 2000AD in the past. As with the other two series, the main cover for the launch issue will be painted by Alice X. Zhang.

Plot details and samples of Taylor’s interior art remain under lock and key, according to the publisher, although the official announcement of the title promises “shocks, surprises and timestream-shaking revelations.” An alternate cover for the first issue teases “No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 percent rebel Time Lord,” which may count as the first official clue about the temperament of Capaldi’s Doctor.

Doctor Who: The Twelfth Doctor No. 1 will be available in comic stores and digitally in October. Doctor Who returns to BBC America in August.
