TNT Eyeing 'The Librarian' TV Series

Noah Wyle - 2011

TNT is eyeing The Librarian as a full-fledged series.

The Turner-owned cable network is developing a drama series based on the Noah Wyle-toplined TV movies that began airing in 2004, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

Should the cast-contingent project move forward, Wyle -- who stars in TNT's sci-fi action series Falling Skies -- would likely appear in the show. Though his deal is not closed at this time, the potential series would have no effect on Wyle's commitment to Falling Skies.

As TVLine first reported, The Librarians -- from Leverage executive producer Dean Devlin -- would center on four people with extraordinary talents who discover that they have been selected by Flynn (Wyle) to work for the Library, an ancient fellowship of knowledge and heroism. They travel the world investigating strange occurrences, battling ancient conspiracies and protecting the innocent from the dangerous, secret world of magic.

There have been three Librarian movies: 2004's Quest for the Spear, 2006's Return to King Solomon's Mines and 2008's The Curse of the Judas Chalice.

Wyle is repped by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment and Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum Morris & Klein. In addition to Falling Skies, which returns in June, Wyle next stars in the film The World Made Straight.

TNT has several drama pilots in the works, including Sharon Stone's Agent X and Guilt by Association, with The Last Ship and Murder in the First debuting this summer.
