T.R. Knight is returning to Shondaland.

Months after setting his return to ABC, Knight has nabbed a recurring role on season two of Shonda Rhimes-produced drama The Catch, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Details on Knight's role are being kept under wraps in typical Shondaland fashion.

"This has been a thrilling secret to keep!" said Rhimes. "One of my favorite family members is home!"

Knight's casting reunites him with Rhimes and her Shondaland partner Betsy Beers as well as The Catch showrunner Allan Heinberg, the latter of whom wrote multiple episodes of Grey's Anatomy during the actor's five-year stint as Dr. George O'Malley.

"Working with Shonda, Betsy and Allan again fills me with immense joy," said Knight. "I am heartened to be returning to Shondaland and excited to work with this exceptional cast!"

Added Heinberg: "Shonda, Betsy and I are beyond excited to have T.R. back in the Shondaland family — and on The Catch in a role the was created and written especially for him."

Knight's beloved George was killed off following a five-season run after the actor — who clashed with former Grey's Anatomy co-star Isaiah Washington — asked to be released a year early from his contract after what he called a "breakdown in communication" with showrunner Rhimes, a lack of screen time and his decision to come out. George's death still ranks as one of the most surprising deaths on Grey's. The role earned Knight a supporting actor Emmy nomination.

The casting continues Knight's recently revived relationship with ABC. In addition to a role in the upcoming gay rights miniseries When We Rise, he co-starred in the network's Reese Witherspoon divorce drama pilot that did not move forward. His other recent credits include Hulu mini 11.22.63 and the feature 42 as well as multiple roles on Broadway. He is repped by Gersh and Thruline.

The Catch, starring Mireille Enos and Peter Krause, was renewed for a surprise second season after a sluggish midseason debut. The drama will return for another midseason run at a date to be announced.
