The 1,000-year-old vampire will reprise his role as the strapping sheriff of Bon Temps and the on-and-off again love interest of mind reading waitress, Sookie.

The new season of True Blood is proving to be bloody.

HBO has just released the official season six poster -- saturated in the color of blood -- for the supernatural drama featuring the ominous tagline: "No one lives forever."

This falls in line with the gory season six trailer that the pay cabler released earlier this month featuring a humans vs. vampires standoff.

The sixth season kicks off with the premiere, directed by star Stephen Moyer, and features new cast members including Friday Night Lights alum Jurnee Smollett-Bell.

Who is in danger?

True Blood premieres season six at 9 p.m. June 16 on HBO.
