Its end now in sight, American Idol closed out its penultimate season with an unsurprisingly soft showing. The two-hour closer averaged a 1.6 rating among adults 18-49 and 7.7 million viewers. And while that may be up from the night and week before, it was still a finale low by a wide margin.

With finales across the dial, ABC closed out the seasons of The Middle (1.7 adults), The Goldbergs (2.0 adults) and Nashville (1.3 adults) with steady episodes. Modern Family (2.7 adults) and Black-ish (2.1 adults) also held.

After a new Survivor (2.2 adults), back-to-back episodes of CSI: Cyber (1.2 adults) wrapped its freshman run on par with last week's solo outing. And on NBC, Mysteries of Laura (1.0 adults) preceded boosted episodes of Law & Order: SVU (1.5 adults),  up 25 percent, and Chicago P.D. (1.6 adults), up 14 percent.

On The CW, Arrow (1.0 adults) was steady in its season finale, while Supernatural (0.8 adults) improved two-tenths of a point.
