The Flash S02E01 Still - H 2015

Best Time Ever finally took a hit — and a week before its delayed move from 10 p.m. In its last appearance with a lead-in from The Voice, albeit an encore episode, the NBC variety show fell six-tenths of a point in the key demo to a 1.3 rating among adults 18-49. Next week will finally see the Neil Patrick Harris-hosted affair go it alone at 8 o'clock.

Even a Voice clip show was enough to give NBC an incredibly strong showing in the key demo over the course of the night. The strongest scripted originals came from reasonably steady CBS. The network had steady episodes of NCIS (2.1 adults) and NCIS: New Orleans (1.7 adults) before Limitless finally took a tiny hit, just two-tenths of a point for an average 1.7 rating in the key demo.

On ABC, The Muppets lost another four-tenths of a point to an average 1.6 rating in the key demo. Agents of SHIELD was steady with its premiere for an average 1.7 rating with adults 18-49 — but it was sophomore comedy Fresh Off the Boat that was the network's biggest player of the night. It averaged a robust and steady 1.8 rating among adults 18-49, even with the smaller lead-in, and easily ranked as the night's top comedy.

Speaking of comedies, Grandfathered (1.1 adults) and The Grinder (1.0 adults) both slipped on Fox. The evenly matched duo lost a respective four- and five-tenths of a point before a new episode of Scream Queens averaged a 1.1 rating among adults 18-49. That's off three-tenths of a point from last week's live-plus-same-day showing, one that grew (like all series) with live-plus-3 viewing.

The CW finally returned to original scripted programming on Tuesday as well. It kicked off the fall season with The Flash, reasonably steady with its finale and freshman average but down roughly 25 percent from its auspicious premiere a year ago for an average 1.4 rating among adults 18-49 and 3.4 million viewers. Neighbor iZombie, which just scored an order for extra scripts, averaged a steady 0.7 rating in the key demo and 1.7 million viewers.
