Empire S02E10 Still - H 2015

Empire goes off onto its three-month hiatus with a ratings boost. The Fox drama rose 38 percent with Wednesday's episode, averaging a 4.4 rating among adults 18-49. Among total viewers, the show was up by nearly 2 million viewers to 11.2 million.

It's very much in line with Empire's October and November same-day showings — and a big improvement from last week's series low. On Thanksgiving Eve, Empire tumbled to a same-day score of just a 3.2 rating in the key demo. (Lead-in Rosewood was slightly improved from its previous episode for an average 1.4 rating.)

Empire's live-plus-seven season-to-date is a 7.5 rating among adults 18-49, a 47 percent boost from its same-day score for the same period. Among total viewers, Empire has been pulling 18.1 million viewers with a extra week of time-shifting. Though full multiplatform data, which Fox is leaning heavily on in recent seasons, will see the most recent numbers climb — Empire has been recouping slightly smaller numbers with live-plus-seven. The latest episode, for the week of Nov. 9, brought a 6.4 rating in the key demo.

ABC and CBS shared second-place status among adults 18-49. On ABC, The Middle (2.1 adults) was steady, while Modern Family (2.4 adults) dropped four-tenths of a point and both The Goldbergs (2.0 adults) and Black-ish (1.7 adults) dropped two-tenths of a point. Nashville (0.9 adults) was also steady.

Code Black climbed three-tenths of a point on CBS, hitting a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49 after steady episodes of Survivor (2.1 adults) and Criminal Minds (1.5 adults).

On NBC, Christmas at Rockefeller Center averaged a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49, as did an encore presentation of How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

The CW's two-night Flash/Arrow crossover concluded with a particularly nice lift for the latter. The drama hit a season-high 1.3 rating among adults 18-49, also averaging a very strong 3.6 million viewers. Supernatural took a 0.9 rating in the key demo.
