TV Ratings: Extended 'Survivor' Wins Wednesday
There wasn't much new to watch on Wednesday night. CBS took advantage of that, doubling up with back-to-back episodes of Survivor for an easy nightly win.
Survivor has been embroiled in a bit of scandal, at least by the standards of a show in its 34th cycle, with one competitor outing another as transgender during the April 12 episode. It may not have goosed viewer interest, but it has helped sustain it. The first episode topped the night with a steady 1.8 rating among adults 18-49, while the second hour dipped down to a 1.6 rating. Looking at the entire night, however, that's still almost double the closest competition — including its lead-out. Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders was unmoved with its Survivor platform, averaging another 0.8 rating in the key demo.
ABC put out a steady Designated Survivor after comedy repeats, fetching a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49 and leading the hour with an average 5.1 million viewers.
Shots Fired was the only other Big Four original for the night. It fetched another 0.8 rating among adults 18-49, the same score as the Empire repeat that followed.
