TV Ratings: 'The Good Place' Grows on Thursday
CBS topped Thursday primetime by all measures, though no series saw any same-day improvement from the prior week. With only the NFL Network coverage of the Atlanta-Tampa game to contend with, few broadcast series were up on Thursday night. Perhaps a TV hangover from the 40-plus tuning into the conclusion of the World Series the night before.
The Big Bang Theory still topped all, down to a 3.0 rating among adults 18-49 — but still earning a massive 13.9 million viewers. The Great Indoors moved down to a 1.7 rating in the key demo in its second episode, while Mom and Life in Pieces each earned a same-day score of a 1.3 rating in the key demo.
Pure Genius may have a problem at 10 p.m. In its second episode, the drama was already down to a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49 — easily losing the hour to ABC and NBC competition.
NBC had the advantage of NFL preemptions in Tampa and Atlanta, but still posted a solid showing without any inevitable downward adjustments. Between steady episodes of Superstore (1.2 adults) and Chicago Med (1.6 adults), The Good Place rose two-tenths of a point to a 1.4 rating in the key demo. The Blacklist wrapped the night with a 1.3 rating.
Grey's Anatomy (2.1 adults), Notorious (0.8 adults) and How to Get Away With Murder (1.1 adults) were steady on ABC — as were Legends of Tomorrow (0.6 adults) and Supernatural (0.7 adults) on the CW.
