While the Big Four duked it out for a three-way tie for first place status among younger viewers, The CW launched its second midseason series on Wednesday night.

Life Sentence came in with a particularly modest 0.3 rating among adults 18-49 and just 760,000 viewers during its first same-day showing. However, that was not much of a drop from its lead-in with streaming-centric Riverdale hitting a season-low 0.4 rating in the key demo at the top of the night.

Every original series on the Big Four managed to match or hold steady with its previous week's scores — and NBC, CBS and Fox managed to each earn an average 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 for all of primetime.

CBS led with viewers and among individual programs, Survivor averaging a 1.7 rating among adults 18-49 before dramas SEAL Team and Criminal Minds (both 0.9 adults). NBC grew steadily over the night with new episodes of The Blacklist (1.1 adults), Law & Order: SVU (1.2 adults) and Chicago P.D. (1.3 adults), while Fox posted new outings for The X-Files (0.9 adults) and 911 (1.6 adults).

On ABC, The Goldbergs and Modern Family each posted a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49 amid new episodes of Speechless (1.2 adults), American Housewife (1.1 adults) and Designated Survivor (0.6 adults) — the latter still clinging to a series low.
