TV Ratings: 'MasterChef' Wins Wednesday

The reality show is one of three scant original offerings for the night.

That's not the sound of crickets you hear — it's the barely discernible hum of summer repeats.

Wednesday night had next to nothing in the way of original programming, with the five broadcast networks offering only three original series among them for the whole of primetime.

MasterChef, dead even with last week's showing, averaged a dominant 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 and 4.2 million viewers on Fox. A new Wayward Pines (0.7 adults) was also even.

NBC, which won the night with two hours of American Ninja Warrior highlights, had one new entry: Night Shift. The drama pulled a 1.0 rating in the key demo and topped all other telecasts among total viewers with 4.5 million.
