TV Ratings: 'Modern Family' 200th Episode Tops Wednesday
Modern Family hit the 200-episode milestone on Wednesday night, narrowly leading the night's TV offerings in the process.
The ABC comedy averaged an even 1.6 rating among adults 18-49 at 9 p.m., making it the highest-rated series of the night ahead of Fox freshman 9-1-1. Overall, ABC shared the No. 2 slot for the night with ABC, as The Goldbergs (1.5 adults), Speechless (1.1 adults), American Housewife (1.2 adults) and Match Game (0.8 adults) all held.
Drama 9-1-1 dipped three-tenths of a ratings point in its second episode, still besting its X-Files lead-in and pulling enough weight to give Fox a primetime win for the night. The hourlong averaged a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49. Last week's premiere climbed 50 percent in initial live-plus-three-day returns for a 2.7 rating among adults 18-49. At 8 o'clock, The X-Files shed 23 percent to a 1.0 rating in the key demo.
The Blacklist (1.0 adults), Law & Order SVU (1.3 adults) and Chicago P.D. (1.3 adults) were all steady on NBC, as were SEAL Team (0.9 adults) and Criminal Minds (1.0 adults) on CBS. The Amazing Race, which is seeing substantial season-to-season growth on the new night, was down a shade to a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49.
