TV Ratings: 'American Ninja Warrior' Tops Quiet Evening

The last day of August was a quiet one on the broadcast networks, with NBC leading a soft night in the ratings.

An American Ninja Warrior special led primetime in both total viewers (3.48 million) and adults 18-49 (0.5 rating) on NBC. Dateline topped the 10 o'clock hour in both measures, drawing 2.78 million viewers and a 0.4 in the 18-49 demographic.

CBS' Love Island came down slightly from its premiere last week, drawing a 0.3 in the demo and 1.61 million viewers vs. 0.4 and 1.89 million for its debut. On the (small) plus side, it was the biggest on-air audience for any of the other four episodes last week.

The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons — Ever returned from two weeks off at ABC and recorded a 0.3 in adults 18-49 and 1.51 million viewers, about 330,000 fewer than its last outing. Whose Line Is It Anyway? (0.2 in 18-49) was steady for The CW, but Penn & Teller: Fool Us dipped to 0.1.

NBC topped primetime among adults 18-49 with a 0.5 rating. Univision and Telemundo tied for second place at 0.4. CBS averaged 0.3, ABC and Fox tied at 0.2, and The CW came in at 0.1.

As of Monday, Nielsen is including out-of-home viewing in its final daily ratings, though not in the fast national figures cited above. This post will be updated with any significant changes to the numbers.
