Rebooting The Muppets reboot will be an uphill battle. The ABC show returned after a lengthy hiatus on Tuesday night, and many viewers opted not to join.

The half-hour averaged just a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 and 2.7 million viewers. In the key demo, that's a 25 percent spill from its last original. And, save Fox's The Grinder, it ranked as the night's lowest-rated original telecast on the Big Four. Lead-in Fresh Off the Boat was in much better shape, rising to a 1.4 rating with adults 18-49 before a steady episode of Agent Carter (0.8 adults).

CBS had a pretty strong turnout for the 2016 installment of The Super Bowl's Greatest Commercials. It brought in a 2.1 rating in the key demo and the night's biggest audience: 11.4 million viewers.

Hollywood Game Night (1.1 adults), Chicago Med (1.6 adults) and Chicago Fire (1.8 adults) were all unmoved on NBC. And, on Fox, New Girl perked up to a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49, while Grandfathered (1.0 adults), Brooklyn Nine-Nine (1.0 adults) and Grinder (0.6 adults) all held steady — the latter now clearly in the danger zone, regardless of time-shifting.

The CW had new episodes of The Flash (1.4 adults) and iZombie (0.6 adults).
