TV Ratings: NBC Claims Wednesday With Live 'Talent,' 'Marlon' Premiere

The freshman comedy is summer's top scripted debut before taking an obligatory hit in episode No. 2.

NBC snapped CBS' recent Wednesday winning streak with the return of America's Got Talent's live results show.

The hourlong telecast, which averaged a 2.1 rating among adults 18-49 and averaged 10.7 million viewers, climbed 17 percent in the key demo from the comparable Wednesday premiere in 2016.

What's more for NBC, Marlon earned a favorable 1.3 rating among adults 18-49 in its premiere outing. It easily ranked as the top scripted launch of the summer, though its second episode dipped down to a 1.0 rating.

On ABC, the network scored No. 2 status for the night thanks to a three-hour showing of the CMA Music Festival. It averaged a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 and 5.7 million viewers.

Big Brother was not diminished by its new competition, averaging another 1.9 rating among adults 18-49. Salvation was similarly unmoved at 9 o'clock. A second episode at 10 p.m. pulled a 0.4 rating.

On Fox, MasterChef earned another 0.9 rating before a steady F Word (0.6 adults).
