ABC pulled ahead for another Wednesday win — though without a new Modern Family, it had to share its demo victory with Fox.

A special outing of Fresh Off the Boat was up to a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49 before a new Speechless won the night. It averaged a 1.6 rating in the key demo, enough to best all other Big Four telecasts. Black-ish was steady with a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49, while Match Game averaged a 1.0 rating.

Star dipped below Lethal Weapon on Fox. The new drama, shedding two-tenths of a point for 1.2 rating among adults 18-49, came in just behind its even lead-in — which averaged another 1.4 rating in the key demo, as it did the week before.

CBS aired its annual telecast of The People's Choice Awards. The two-hour kudos was unmoved from 2016 among adults 18-49, averaging a 1.2 rating, but they posted a 10 percent lift among total viewers — rising 6.7 million. Prior to the People's Choice, Undercover Boss earned an even 1.1 rating in the key demo.

Blindspot (0.9 adults), Law & Order: SVU (1.4 adults) and Chicago P.D. (1.5 adults) were all steady on NBC. On The CW, Frequency pulled a 0.2 rating among adults 18-49.
