TV Ratings: 'Talent' Finale Is Most Watched Episode in 7 Years
America's Got Talent concluded its meteoric 12th season on Wednesday night, fetching its most watched episode in six years.
The two-hour finale, also the best season-ender in six years, matched the recent high 2.9 rating among adults 18-49 and climbed to nearly 15.8 million night-of viewers. Both scores are a fitting punctuation mark to a season that assured NBC dominance throughout the summer. With live-plus-seven-day lifts, the show has averaged a 3.5 rating among adults 18-49 and 16.1 million viewers.
Talent's finale led into a one-hour return for comedy The Good Place. The series, which will air on Thursdays starting next week, averaged a 1.4 rating in the key demo and 5.8 million viewers. Both numbers were up significantly from its typical linear returns. The Good Place's 13-episode freshman run ultimately averaged a 3.0 rating in the key demo once multiplatform views were taken into account.
Big Brother also ended its summer run on Wednesday, similarly hitting highs with 6.7 million viewers and tying its summer high 2.1 rating among adults 18-49.
Back-to-back episodes of MasterChef, leading up to the finale, pulled a 1.0 and 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 on Fox.
